AFSCME Council 57 in conjunction with the IU Education Department are excited to offer Advanced Stewards Training! Advanced Stewards training will focus on how to review, investigate, and represent members in disciplinary matters.

This is a Two-Day in person training.
Day 1: Nuts and Bolts of Adverse Action process
Day 2: Full presentation to Skelly Officers with a ruling at the end of training
Friday, December 8, 2023, and Saturday, December 9, 2023 - 9 am - 5:00 pm

Tools to understand the Adverse Action process, conducting an investigation, working with the member and presenting a case in front of the Hearing Officer. Using “real cases” with a range of agencies that we represent.  This will be a rigorous 2-day interactive module, which is designed to give current member leaders the experience of participating in adverse action hearings. Members who complete this course will be better equipped to serve as stewards. Please provide as much detail as possible in the survey. Due to limited space and the nature of this course, participation will be subject to review of prior representation experience.
