Council 57 Condemns Trump Administration, Republicans for Separating Children from Families at Border

The AFSCME Council 57 Executive Board approved the following resolution in response to the Trump administration's inhumane policy of separating children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border:

"Whereas, the act of removing children from their families and the criminlization of families seeking legal asylum protection from violence in their countries of origin is both inhumane and has been condemned by the United Nations, religous leaders, and all who have compassion and a sense of decency.

Therefore, be it resolved that AFSCME Council 57 opposes such actions and will support demonstrations and actions of resistance by Labor, community and religious organizations to stop cruel and immoral policies that harm individuals and families seeking asylum.

Be it finally resolved that this resolution be sent to all Council 57 Locals, California PEOPLE Streeing Committee and to International President Lee Saunders."
