This year’s theme is Seize the Future: Confronting Challenges and Creating Success in Changing Times 

 Agenda items (subject to change) include: 

  • Remarks from AFSCME President Lee Saunders, incoming California Labor Federation Secretary- Treasurer Lorena Gonzalez, Senate Pro Tem Toni Atkins and others 
  • Opportunities to sharpen our skills as effective advocates for our members 
  • Discussions on past victories, current challenges and future threats and opportunities 
  • Small breakout room discussions with AFSCME legislative champions
  • Issue briefings and virtual lobby visits with state Senate and Assembly members 
  • Future political action workshops schedule 

California affiliates are allocated voting delegates based on the size of their membership in accordance with the AFSCME California PEOPLE by-laws (attached here). Additionally, the convention is open to all AFSCME members in good standing as non-voting guests. 

Each affiliate will be responsible for providing a list of their delegates no later than March 21, 2022.  Official delegates will receive additional instructions on how to cast votes during the convention.  Virtual voting will be used to determine a final position on any resolutions, by-law changes, endorsement confirmations and any other official conference business.
