AFSCME Members March For Single Payer Healthcare

While Congress debates what has become a watered-down effort to reform the broken health care system on a federal level, Californians are committed to achieve quality, affordable healthcare for everyone. SB (Senate Bill) 810, the California Universal Health Care Act would do just that, providing every Californian with the comprehensive health care they deserve. It would further serve to reduce health care costs for working Californians and reduce billions of dollars in unnecessary spending.

AFSCME members were among the many health care reform advocates who marched on Sacramento on January 11th with other union members, medical students, nurses and others. Unless the legislature enacts a Single Payer model to provide health care for all, there will be no true health care reform. The Senate is scheduled to vote on SB 810 towards the end of January.
