Engineer. In short, he fixes things. He served on the negotiating
team for the hospital and is on his second term as Mercy Medical
Center Chapter President for Local 2703. Mel is also on Local
2703's Executive Board. He is interested in more training and
communication between the members and leadership as defined
by the 21st Century initiative. Jean
Hamilton Jean
E. Hamilton is the President of Local 3993, San Francisco Bay Area Rapid

not busy handling Union concerns her "other" job is that of
principal financial analyst overseeing the Automatic Fare Collection

Connector Project. She is also a member of the BART Investment Plans
Committee, overseeing close to $700 million in retirement investments. John
Vance was recently elected to be President of AFSCME Local 10 which is
based in Modesto. John is a Public Works Inspector for the City of Patterson,
and has been the Steward representing city workers for several years. In running
for Local 10 President, his priority was to make changes to bring the
local into the 21st century. John wants to motivate members to be more
involved in the Union, and to address issues that affect their workplace
and working conditions. He demands open communication and fairness to
all members. Amy is a Psyolysomnograph
Technologist at Sequoia's Sleep Disorder Lab. When she is not organizing
for the union or at work in the lab, she coaches kids and adults in basketball
